Together artist Mathew Jonson has been a minimal house and techno heavyweight for over a decade, turning out some of the biggest techno tracks and keeping plenty busy with both solo work and various collaborations.
2013 will be another productive year for the Canadian producer. Crosstown Rebels (also home to Together artists Art Department) recently announced that they will release Jonson’s second full-length solo album, Her Blurry Pictures, on June 11. The album is a mix of both old and new tracks, which represent “a transition from darker states into something filled with light” in his life. We can expect to hear Jonson’s distinctive signature sound, which Crosstown Rebels describes as “rhythmically complex and with a truly timeless fluid style … [He] has a propensity for epic, dark and dynamic sound scapes that leave a dancefloor helplessly enthralled.”
To keep us satiated as we patiently await the release of his LP, Crosstown Rebels will also be releasing a single on April 29. The two tracks highlight Jonson’s taste for intricate beatwork as well as more abstract melodies. Listen to a preview of the single below.
CreateSpace Collab brings Mathew Jonson to Together on Saturday, May 18. Check out the mix below for an idea of what to expect (hint: it’s going to be a raw dance party). Make sure you don’t miss out on this and other Together events – buy your pass today!
